現在7代目のカロー（Carreau）家は、1832年にフランス海軍の司令長官からこのシャトーを買い取りました。前の所有者に敬意を示し、このシャトーに軍艦の小艦隊を意味する海軍用語、”レスカェド”と命名しました。シャトーは32ヘクタールで構成され、ジロンド川を見渡せる丘の斜面、”ブライ・コート・ド・ボルドー”アペラシオンの中心に位置しています。

絶え間なく知識を向上させようとしたり、根拠がある場合には改良された技術を取り入れたりする一方で、その家族のモットーは優れたワインを生産する実績ある伝統的な方法に敬意を払い、そしてそれらに忠実であることです。家族のモットーに従って、このエステイトを現在経営しているカロー家の2人は適切な準備をしました。セバスチャン・カロー（Sebastien Carreau） はワイン造りの担当です。彼は数か所の評判の良い地元のシャトーで修業しながら、ボルドーでワインの全てを研究しました。研究を修了した後で、彼はジャックとフランソワ・リュルトン（Jacques & François Lurton）兄弟とスペインに、そしてその後、有名な”空飛ぶワインメーカー”であるミシェル・ロラン（Michel Rolland）と共にアルゼンチンに働きに行きました。ニコラ・カロー（Nicolas Carreau）はシャトーの管理経営とマーケティングの担当です。彼はアンジェ（フランス）で農学を学び、ボルドーに戻ってMBAを修了する前に、バレンシア（スペイン）でブドウとワインの修士号を修得しました。

このシャトーは4種類のワインを生産しています。それらは、白ワインのシャトー・レスカェド・ブラン・セック（Chateau L’EscadreBlanc Sec）そしてシャトー・レスカェド・トラディション（Chateau L’Escadre Tradition）、シャトー・レスカェド・グランド・レゼルヴ（Chateau L’Escadre Grande Reserve）、シャトー・レスカェド・マジョー（Chateau L’Escadre Major）の3種類の赤ワインです。ジロンド川を見渡せる丘の斜面は、全て南南西に向いています。メルロー、カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、マルベック、ソーヴィニヨン・ブラン、セミヨンの5種類のブドウ品種が栽培されています。

The Carreau family, now in their 7th generation bought the chateau in 1832 from an Admiral of the French navy. In honour of the former owner they named the chateau "L' Escadre", a navy term for a squadron of warships. The chateau is comprised of 32 Hectares and is located on the hillsides overlooking the Gironde river, in the heart of the “Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux” appellation.

The family motto is to respect and adhere to proven traditional ways in producing great wines while continuously seeking to improve one’s knowledge and applying improved techniques where warranted. The two family members now running the estate have prepared themselves well and in accordance with the family motto. Sebastien Carreau is in charge of wine making. He studied in Bordeaux all the while training at several reputed local chateaux. After completing his studies he went to work in Spain with Jacques & François Lurton and later in Argentina with Michel Rolland, the famous “Flying Winemaker”. Nicolas Carreau is in charge of managing the property and marketing. He studied Agronomy in Angers and received a Master of Vine and Wine degree in Valencia (Spain) before completing his MBA studies back in Bordeaux.

The chateau produces four wines; the white Chateau L’Escadre Blanc Sec, and three red wines, Chateau L’ Escadre Tradition, Chateau L’ Ecadre Grande Reserve and the Chateau L’ Escadre Major. The hillsides overlooking the Gironde are all south-southwest oriented. Five grape varieties are grown, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon.
